This suburb sits on a sandstone ridge that slopes down toward Narrabeen Lagoon, and that shape decides how its plumbing fails.
The suburb grew from the post-war decades through the 1960s and 70s as Dee Why's western fringe, detached brick-veneer and fibro family homes built on falling ground rather than flat blocks.
